At Niepoort they believe that the colour of this port should be inspired by the ruby gemstone. Niepoort Ruby is fresh, young and fruity. An expressive port with plenty of character. Origin: Portugal, Douro. Port style: Niepoort Ruby Port. Port house: Niepoort. Grapes: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Cão, Tinta Amarela, Sousão. Storage and serving: This ruby port is filtered and ready to drink now. Once opened it can be kept for at least a month. Decanting is not necessary, you can pour directly from the bottle at cellar temperature (12 to 15ºC). What can you taste? The colour is intensely deep purple and beautifully bright. This port has an intense but pleasantly fresh black fruit nose with notes of cherries, plums and blueberries. The flavour is rich and smooth thanks to its recognisable black fruit with a hint of dark chocolate. The finish is supple. Food & spice: Goes with any cheese board with hard and soft cheeses and especially with blue cheeses. Also a great combination with Black Forest cake.
