Kopke Colheita Port 1947 – a wonderfully rich port of more than 65 years old. This special port has a pronounced, rich caramel aroma and a soft finish. Colheita port matures for at least eight years in oak casks, which is why the bottle always states both the harvest and bottling year. Once bottled, the wine can be kept for many years. Compared with the 1944 and 1937, this Colheita is a little brighter reddish-brown. The nose is more restrained and dominated by dried fruit and caramel. On the palate it is not heavy or syrupy, but playful, light, and elegant, marked by a distinctive acidity that comes just before the flavour of dried fruit, followed by smoky notes. In the mid to late finish you taste some rustic, lightly alcoholic tones. A Colheita is a port from a single vintage, just like a vintage port. This Colheita comes from the house of Kopke, founded in 1638. Delicious as an aperitif or with hard cheese. Kopke Colheita Port 1947 is a very special gift to give or receive. Origin: Portugal, Douro. Port style: Kopke Colheita Port 1947. Cellaring and serving: after opening, this port will keep for up to 6 weeks. Serve at 16–18 ºC. Food & spice: a lovely aperitif or after-dinner drink with hard cheeses or nuts.
