About Churchill's: Churchill Graham Lda. is the creation of John Graham, scion of the famous English port family Graham. John Graham came to Portugal in 1973 and trained at Cockburn's, but decided in 1981 to continue the family tradition and make port himself. In this period many family firms were bought by multinationals who often replaced the traditional (best) methods of port making with modern vinification techniques. John Graham felt there was room in the market for a specialist port producer who would make wines in the traditional way. The new company was named Churchill's Graham because Graham is married to a member of the Churchill family.
