Calem Vintage 2011 has been awarded 95 Parker points, and not without reason. This port from one of Portugal's most important port houses has been judged by Robert Parker for its ageing potential, full flavour and complexity, which will only increase over time. Do not be misled by the price, which is very sharp because Vinho do Porto has bought heavily especially for you. Drink this port at Christmas this year or store a case in your cellar at 15–18 °C and in 15–20 years you will have a wonderful surprise. Calem believes it is important that you enjoy not only the contents but also the bottle itself, so the port comes in a very sturdy wooden case (free). Origin: Portugal, Douro. Style: Calem Vintage Port 2011. Producer: Calem. Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amerena, Tinta Barroca. Storage and serving: This Vintage should be decanted at least 10 hours in advance. When drunk in 2014 it will have almost no sediment; this will increase with age. Once opened it should be consumed within 2 days. Serve lightly chilled (16–18 °C). Quantity: 750 ml. Tasting notes: Blackberries, figs and smoky aromas that are beautifully defined. The taste is silky and seductive, very concentrated and harmonious. Velvety finish with notes of dates and cassis on the aftertaste. The 2011 Calem is a magnificent Vintage Port with great ageing potential. Food & spice: Excellent with mature blue cheeses such as Stilton. The soft, buttery texture and gentle character of the cheese are perfectly matched by the powerful, majestic flavours of Vintage Port. Other soft, buttery, mildly piquant blue cheeses include Cashel Blue, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Saint Agur Blue.
