Senhora do Convento: A Legacy of Douro Excellence by Kranemann Wine Estates

Senhora do Convento is a distinguished port wine brand under the stewardship of Kranemann Wine Estates, rooted in the historic Quinta do Convento de São Pedro das Águias in Portugal's Douro Valley. This estate, dating back to the 12th century, was originally established by Cistercian monks who played a pivotal role in the region's viticultural development.

In 2018, German wine connoisseur Christoph Kranemann acquired the estate, marking a new chapter in its storied history. Under his guidance, Kranemann Wine Estates has revitalized the property, focusing on producing high-quality port wines that honor traditional methods while embracing modern winemaking techniques.

The Senhora do Convento label features a range of port wines, including Tawny and Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) styles. The Tawny Port is characterized by its balance of classical tawny notes and the estate's signature freshness, achieved through aging in a Mediterranean climate with schist and granite soils.

The 2012 LBV Port showcases the estate's commitment to quality, offering rich, aromatic flavors with floral and forest fruit notes, complemented by hints of balsamic and dark chocolate. This wine is crafted from carefully selected grapes and aged to highlight its vintage characteristics.

Senhora do Convento's dedication to excellence reflects the heritage of its historic estate and the innovative spirit of Kranemann Wine Estates, contributing to the Douro Valley's reputation for producing world-class port wines.
